CM B S Yeddyurappa became the first citizen in the State to enrol himself to avail the 12-digit Unique Identification number, ‘Aaadhaar’ after the opening of the centre. The visitors to Dasara exhibition can enrol their names giving the biometric and demographic details at the counters established for the purpose. The stall will operate at the expo for the next two months.

Ashok Dalwai, Deputy Director General of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) told Deccan Herald that the Authority in association with the department of e-governance of the state government was working closely to complete the process hassle-free in the State. Besides the enrolment and info centre at the exhibition, the MysoreOne centres across the city would accept the enrolment.

Citizens can walk into these centres and provide their demographic and biometric data. The data will be transferred to the Central Information Data Repository (CIDR) in Bangalore, which is an operational centre for the whole of the Country.

The enrolment data would go through the de-duplication process for verification and to ensure that there is no duplication. A unique ID number will be issued within 10-15 days and the same would be mailed to the concerned individual to their address, Dalwai informed.

He said more centres like one at the civic offices like Corporation, municipalities in the taluk centres would also be added in the coming days. “We hope to cover the two districts in next 2-3 months. There will be campaigns to sensitise public on the need for enrolment. All future services, be it the government or private will depend on UID number,” he added.

28 documents

The citizens can produce any one of the 28 different documents authenticating their address proof to enrol their names. A certificate of date of birth is mandatory. Secretary to e-governance M N Vidyashankar and others were present.
