Tension prevailed in the border areas of Kodagu, in Makutta checkpost for some time, after officials allowed only those with a Covid-19 negative certificate to enter the district.
With the increasing surveillance following a rise in Covid-19 cases in Kerala, all those entering Kodagu should produce a Covid-19 negative certificate, obtained 72 hours prior to their journey.
Several passengers who arrived at the check post had to return as they did not have a Covid negative certificate.
A driver said that they were not informed about the need for a certificate. The gate has been closed now.
Several goods-carrying-vehicles were inconvenienced with the officials seeking the report. The district administration should make arrangements to conduct tests on the spot, he added.
Officials said that more than 250 people who had come with the Covid-19 negative certificate were allowed inside the district.
