CRPF jawan from Gokak killed in Manipur blast

Central Reserve Police Force jawan Umesh Mahaningappa Helavar, a resident of Ambedkar Layout in Gokak, was killed in a bomb explosion in a suspected terrorist attack in Imphal on Saturday.

The incident occurred when Umesh was on duty in the Manipur capital. Umesh was killed on the spot.

His mortal remains will arrive in a special flight at Sambra Airport in Belagavi on Monday and from there, they would be taken to his native place by road, informed tahsildar G S Malagi.

Subsequently the body will be kept for public viewing for people to pay their last respect. The last rites will be held in Gokak, family sources said.

Residents of the district have expressed shock and grief at the death of the soldier.
