About 120 passengers on board the vessel ‘M V Minicoy’ sailed from Old Port. The cruise will be returning back to Mangalore on Monday. The Lakshadweep Development Corporation is operating the shipping services between Mangalore and Lakshadweep.

The direct tourist cruise connection between Lakshadweep and Mangalore has not only reduced the time duration of voyage but also reduced the cost. Earlier, one had to go to Kochi to go to Lakshadweep as the permit card was issued in Kochi. However, now the permit card will be issued in Mangalore itself.

The trip lasts for 14 hours. Additional Deputy Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma said that the cruise is operated between Mangalore-Lakshadweep to promote tourism. However, district administration do not have any role in it and is not responsible for anything.
