Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta has been appointed as a member of the consultative committee for Ministry of Defence.
This advisory committee, chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, includes a total of 14 members from Lok Sabha, six from the Rajya Sabha, and two nominated members. Capt. Chowta is among the 14 members selected from the Lok Sabha.
The advisory committee of the Ministry of Defence will hold meetings from time to time to provide advice to government on defence policies, the implementation of various plans and programmes, and matters related to national defence, stated a press release from the office of MP.
“At a time when the country and the defence sector is moving towards self-reliance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is an honour for me to be appointed as a member of the Ministry of Defence Advisory Committee. As a soldier and a member of parliament, it is a privilege for me," Captain Chowta stressed.
