Bengaluru: Following the controversy that some private schools are not adhering to the government academic calendar with regard to Dasara vacation, the Associated Management for Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka claimed it has discretionary power to decide on holidays.
In a statement released to the media, General Secretary of the Association D Shashi Kumar said that private schools cut short the Dasara holidays as they have to declare holiday again in December on account of Christmas.
“Even during Christmas, we private schools have to declare holiday at least for a week, which is not followed by government and aided schools. This is the reason we reduce the days in Dasara vacation and it is our discretion,” he added.
The Association clarified that it had issued the statement following the objection by some of the organisations questioning the private schools’ decision to cut short the Dasara holidays.
