"The Karnataka Chief Minister should have resigned long time ago following corruption charges against him in land scams," he told reporters here tonight.

Deshmukh criticised the BJP's youth wing for its plan to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on January 26, saying it will vitiate the atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Minister said a state-level committee of MPs will be formed in each state for monitoring the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

To a question, Deshmukh said "I am happy in Delhi and have no desire to move to Maharashtra as I have spent a good number of years there."
