Speaking to reporters at Devatkal in Surpur taluk of Yadgir district, Siddaramaiah said, "Why did Amit Shah give ticket to Prajwal despite knowing that he was involved in a sex scandal?. The SIT will conduct a fair and transparent probe to bring out the truth, he said.

When asked about H D Kumaraswamy's allegations that D K Shivakumar was behind the pen drive, the chief minister defended his deputy saying he (DKS) has no role in the case. "Karthik is Prajwal's ex-driver. He has given the pen drive to a BJP leader. How is Shivakumar connected...Kumaraswamy's allegations against Shivakumar are politically motivated," Siddaramaiah said.
