Regional Commissioner Tushar Girinath who is also HDMP administrator has ordered for a magisterial inquiry into the building collapse incident that took place on Tuesday in Dharwad.

The inquiry will be headed by Deputy Commissioner and a report will be submitted to the government very soon

He said there is no question of shielding any person and cases under Labour laws have been booked against the building owner.

The inquiry team will also check whether there were lapses in giving permission for partial occupancy.

The officials have said the use of substandard quality materials led to this mishap. Hence samples of debris are being collected and will be sent to examine at authorised centre in Bengaluru.

The NDRF team with over 78 men are rescuing the people. The team arrived from Ghaziabad at 7.00 am and have rescued 30 persons. One person is critical.
