She was speaking at the annual day celebration of the Sabarmati High School in Suguturu in Kolar taluk on Monday.
Currently, the cycles are being distributed only to students hailing from BPL families. This should be relaxed and the facility should be extended to all the students of rural areas irrespective of their family background for their overall benefit, Vimala added.
Rs 4 lakh
She advised students to be proud of their schools and urged them to work towards building better future. Vimala promised the school authorities to release Rs 4 lakh for the construction of Library building which lacked a separate building.
Former Zilla Panchayat president V Venkateshappa presided over the function. Treasurer of Nirman organisation Chouda Reddy, School Trust President G Yoginarayana Gowda, Trust’s Treasurer T P Narappa, G Y Nandhini Gowda, Vijayalakshmi Anand and Kuvempu University retired Vice-Chancellor Prof Gajendragada spoke on the occasion.
Prizes were distributed to meritorious students on the occasion. Teachers C Byrappa, B K Jagadeesh and others were present on the occasion.
