Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said that wooing people for votes is Congress’s sole agenda.
"Siddaramaiah led government released funds under Gruha Lakshmi scheme just two days prior to the assembly by election in Karnataka to appease voters," he said, demanding that the Election Commission immediately take legal action against the state government for violating the code of conduct," Captain Chowta said.
Responding to the release of Gruha Lakshmi scheme installment funds to some beneficiaries in by-election constituencies like Shiggaon, Capt Chowta claimed that this is a significant inducement by the Congress government.
Delaying the payment of the Gruma Lakshmi scheme installments and then releasing them just hours before election is a clear strategy by the Congress government.
"It’s not new for Congress to take devious routes to win elections. Before each election, the Congress-led state government tries to use government funds to influence voters," he alleged.
"During the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress government deposited amounts under five guarantee schemes into beneficiaries’ accounts just two days before the election, later attempting to justify it by claiming it didn’t violate the election code of conduct.
"Now, after remaining inactive when no elections were on the horizon, the government has suddenly awakened with the by-election around the corner. By releasing pending Gruha Lakshmi funds right before election, the government is resorting to cheap political manipulation," he added
