Doctors have ruled out foul play in the death of a woman after consuming prasada at a temple in Chintamani of Chikkaballapur district.

Dr M S Lakshmaiah, medical superintendent at the R L Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre clarified that there was no possibility of food being laced with poison. “What was cooked in the morning was distributed in the evening. There are only two possibilities - either the food may have turned stale or the cook may have had some viral infection. It is learnt that either the cook or those who consumed the prasad may have been infected by the bacteria staphylococcus which causes skin disease,” he
explained.

Chikkaballapur deputy commissioner Anirudh Sravan P and superintendent of police Karthik Reddy visited the hospitals and the temple.
