Superintendent of Police C B Ryshyanth on Wednesday directed the police to take tough action on complaints related to the protection of women and child marriage.

Speaking at a training programme ‘Adoption under Juvenile Justice Act’, jointly organised by Directorate of Child Protection, Women and Child Development and Police department at his office, he directed the police not to compromise on complaints related to women and child protection, including child marriage. Cases should be filed and immediate action taken, he said.

The SP issued warning to the police following complaints from a few taluk-level Child Development Project Officers (CDPO) that the police are reluctant to support them in many cases. They alleged that the police do not come on time and delays registering cases against child marriages, trying to compromise. The SP warned disciplinary action against the officials failing to co-operate with CDPOs.
