Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda on Saturday defended amendment to three farm laws and criticised the farmers protesting to withdraw it.
The Minister was speaking to reporters, here. He said, until now the farmers were puppets in the hands of the middlemen and thus the amendment was made. But, a section of farmers are opposing it due to political benefits.
The amendment were approved in Lok Sabha after discussion. What does it mean if the policies made by the elected representatives are being opposed, he asked.
Sadananda Gowda also slammed singer Rihanna for her comments against the government in connection with the farmers' issue. What does she know about farming and farmers? Does she know the farmers problem and how they market produce? I don't want to comment on her," he said.
