‘Homas’ and ‘havans’ were performed at Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara’s new office at the Vidhana Soudha.
Early Sunday morning saw Parameshwara’s wife Kannika Parameshwari performing puja to her husband’s office space - Room Nos. 327 and 328, located in the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha.
The rituals were performed under heavy police security. The police had cordoned off the entire Vidhana Soudha, restricting entry to visitors, including the media.
According to sources, the Parameshwaras specifically chose a holiday to perform the pujas so as to not attract any attention.
But a few television channels gained access to a video clip showing Kannika performing puja amid heavy police security. It couldn’t be ascertained whether Parameshwara was present during the rituals.
Parameshwara’s family wasn’t the only one seeking divine intervention on Sunday.
It was rumoured that Congress leader and Kanakapura MLA D K Shivakumar, who is vying for an important position in the H D Kumaraswamy cabinet, travelled to Tamil Nadu to offer special pujas at the Vishnu temple in Thiruvallur.
The Vokkaliga strongman, who has been under the scanner of the various central investigating agencies, is said to have made the pilgrimage to remedy the roadblocks that he is facing.
