Tumakuru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Wednesday that there was no need for the enforcement directorate (ED) to raid the premises of former minister B Nagendra in the Valmiki ST Development Corporation scam.

He was addressing reporters during his visit to the Kadasiddeshwara Mutt at Nonavinakere in Tiptur taluk.

"The special investigation team (SIT) is probing the case efficiently. So, where was the need for the ED to interfere in the case," the deputy chief minister said.

"There has been misuse of funds in the corporation. But, prima facie, it appears that the minister and the MLA are not involved. Any wrongdoer should be punished," Shivakumar said.

"Whoever contests the byelection from the Congress to the Channapatna seat, it is like me contesting," he said.
