A male elephant, aged 13-14 years, was electrocuted at an estate near Suntikoppa on Wednesday.
The jumbo was electrocuted as it toppled an electricity pole. The pole was said to be old and dilapidated. Range forest officer Rathan said the forest department would write to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) to replace old poles. DCF Bhaskar and other senior officials visited the spot.
