Mysuru: An exhibition of historical documents and photographs will be organised by the Karnataka State Archives Department at MMK and Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) Women’s College, in Mysuru, from November 7 to 9, as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of renaming of Mysuru State to Karnataka State.
Director of the Archives department Gavisiddaiah will inaugurate the three-day exhibition, organised by the Divisional Archives Office in Mysuru, in association with the Kannada department and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college. Retired Kannada professor and scholar Preethi Shubachandra, principal of MMK SDM PU College Nayana Kumari and Senior Assistant Director of Archives H L Manjunath will also attend.
Manjunath said that there will be a total of 65 exhibits at the Seminar Hall of the college in Krishnamurthypuram. "The documents and photos cover the erstwhile Mysuru and present Karnataka state, starting from the days of the Wadiyar kings of Yadu dynasty to Independence, formation of responsible government, democratically-elected government and unification and renaming," he said.
