Five ancient sculptures were unearthed at the premises of a Jain temple at Adaguru near here on Friday.
The sculptures include a two-foot-tall Munisamruta Theerthankara, a 1.5-foot-tall Adinatha Theerthankara, a one-foot-tall Parshwanatha Theerthankara, a one-foot-tall Jain Yakshi and a three-inch-tall Padmavathi.
The land, belonging to the Jain temple trust, was levelled with an excavator a few days ago. A few passersby noticed a small portion of the sculpture protruding above the soil surface. When the soil was loosened, they found an ancient Jain sculpture. They immediately alerted the Jain temple authorities.
