Deputy Conservator of Forests V Yedukondalu, MM Hills Reserve, said that residents of villages like Maruru and Hasthuru, on the fringes of the forests, would be equipped with walkie talkies to alert the Forest department about the spotting of wild animals in human habitats.
He said, as there is no mobile network in the villages on the fringes of the forests, communication is a problem. So, the people find it difficult to alert the Forest department personnel. Walkie talkies will be provided to one or two villagers so that they can maintain contact with the department, he added.
