Former minister Vimalabai Deshmukh, 69, passed away at her residence in the city on Sunday.
She was unwell for some time now. She is survived by her daughter Nandini Deshmukh, a former MLA in Maharashtra. Vimalabai had represented Muddebihal constituency in the Assembly from 1994 to 1999. She was the minister for women and child development in the J H Patel Cabinet.
Her husband Jagadevrao Deshmukh also represented the constituency for three terms as a Janata Party MLA. He had also worked as a minister. Vimalabai’s last rites will be performed at the family’s farmhouse on the outskirts of Nalatwad in Muddebihal taluk on Monday afternoon.
