Leader of the Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that freedom of expression should not be hurt.
Addressing a gathering, after inaugurating Mysuru Photo Journalists Association, at Mysuru District Journalist Association here, Siddaramaiah said that a section of the media misinterprets him, but he welcomes it as it is a form of freedom of expression.
He said, “We have accepted the Constitution and the parliamentary system. The country has to function accordingly. It is not right to be anti-democratic.”
Siddaramaiah said that he reads newspaper, rather than watching television. Newspapers are more credible than TV media. Though reporters give proper news, editors or owners misinterpret them, he said.
Siddaramaiah shared the stage along with Chamundeshwari MLA G T Devegowda, who defeated him in the last Assembly election.
