The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh, brought the prime suspect Parashuram Waghmore for investigation to Belagavi on Wednesday evening.
Waghmore was subjected to medical tests at the district hospital and was later taken to undisclosed locations for investigation.
The team is probing Waghmore’s connections with the locals and those who trained him in firing in the forest areas nearby.
Waghmore, a native of Sindagi in Vijayapur district, is suspected to have shot dead journalist Gauri Lankesh. During interrogation, Waghmore is said to have confessed to SIT that he was trained in firing in the forest areas of Belagavi.
Belagavi Superintendent of Police Sudheerkumar Reddy confirmed to DH that the SIT had indeed brought Waghmore for investigations here and will leave today (Thursday).
He said as SIT was investigating the case, he was not privy to the places of investigation and the identity of the people questioned.
