The 113th birth anniversary of General K S Thimayya will be observed by General Thimayya and Field Marshal Cariappa Forum, Thimayya Abhimanigalu and others at Thimayya’s house--Sunny Side here, on Sunday.
As model code of conduct is in force, the birth anniversary will be observed in a simple manner.
Sunny Side is being converted into General K S Thimayya Memorial Museum. The work on the museum at a cost of Rs 5 crore, released by Kannada and Culture department, is in progress.
Artists have come up with drawings of war in which Thimayya had taken part. The artworks have been completed and will be exhibited in the museum. They have also come out with several artworks highlighting Kodava culture and bravery.
A war tanker had reached the museum last year. The war tanker is painted and attracts the attention of the onlookers.
The Indian Army has sent 24 arms used by soldiers of the Indian Army to the museum. The Forum office-bearers have decided to exhibit the arms on Sunday.
Some of the arms are Light Machine gun, Medium machine gun, self-loading rifles, rocket launcher, 32 mm rifle and others.
