The Revenue Department on Monday issued a government order for setting up the Karnataka Brahmin Development Board, for which the government has set aside Rs 25 crore.
Last week, the Cabinet decided to ratify Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s announcement of the same in his 2018-19 budget. The Board will provide assistance for the development/welfare of economically-backward members in the Brahmin community.
It will be headed by four government officials and government nominated shareholders, namely, Gangaram Baderia, principal secretary, Revenue Department; K Bhanumathi, deputy secretary, Revenue Department; C P Shailaja, commissioner, Endowment Ddepartment and G V Sridhar, headquarters assistant, Endowment Department.
The Board is being constituted under the Formation of Companies with Charitable Objects of the Companies Act, 2013, Column (8). The office will be set up on the second, third and fourth floors at Minto Anjaneya Bhavan, Chamarajpet here.
