Addressing a meeting of farmers of Sirvar and Chagnur villages and KIADB (Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board) officials he said the Government has fixed a compensation of Rs 16 lakh per acre to those who lose their land by the roadside and Rs 12 lakh per acre of land to those who lose their land in the interior region.
He said this was the third and final round of meeting and if anyone found the compensation inadequate could move the court. He said as chairman of the rate fixing committee he had the right to fix the compensation rate as per norms and the proposal will be put before the Government.
The compensation will be paid in a lumpsum and there will be no part payment, he added. He said efforts would be made to provide job opportunities to the families of those who lose their land, but this would depend on the company entrusted with the construction of the airport.
