The state government has decided to release funds under calamity relief Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Uttar Kannada and Shivamogga districts, which have been affected by heavy rains, flooding and landslides.
The Revenue department on Tuesday announced the release of Rs 200 crore to the these districts, with Kodagu being allocated Rs 85 crore to carry out relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction works.
The government has released Rs 20.88 crore to Dakshina Kannada; Rs 14.54 crore to Udupi; Rs 25.13 crore to Chikkamagaluru; Rs 27.94 crore - Hassan; Rs 11.51 crore to Uttar Kannada and Rs 15 crore to Shivamogga.
The deputy commissioners of these districts, which have witnessed severe damages to public and private properties affecting normal life, are required to furnish utilisation certificates to the government. As per the circular issued, the deputy commissioners will be held responsible, if the funds are found to be misused.
