The president of Madara (B) Gram Panchayat in Afzalpur taluk Goudappagouda Patil was hacked to death by a group of unidentified persons on Friday.
The assailants had arrived in two jeeps and attacked him with lethal weapons near Chowdapur bus stand. They stabbed Patil in the stomach several times, leading to his death on the spot. The police suspect an old rivalry could be the reason. Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasalu said that three teams have been formed to nab the miscreants.
