Home Minister and district in-charge minister Dr G Parameshwara said that the government is building a shandy market for the benefit of farmers and the same should be utilised. He was speaking after performing the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for the shandy market proposed to be built at a cost of Rs 79 lakh by the APMC near fish market in the town. Another shandy market will be built at Muttinakoppa near Narasimharajapura, at a cost of Rs 22 lakh.

MLA D N Jeevaraj said that many projects have been approved in the constituency. Laying of concrete on the Jaycee Circle-Rambhapuri Peetha stretch, construction of drains and asphalt of the shandy market road will be carried out. He, meanwhile, requested the district in-charge minister to sanction grants through the concerned departments.

Koppa APMC president Onitota Ratnakar, Narasi-mharajapura Taluk Panchayat president Jayashree Mohan, Zilla Panchayat member Chandramma, Deputy Commissioner Satyavati, Superintendent of Police Annamalai and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ragapriya were present. The process of scrapping the orderly system has been initiated. The staff for ‘D’  Group works will be recruited in due course. Responding to a query, Parameshwara said that the appointment of KPCC president is left to the party High Command.

To another question, the minister said that the state is facing severe drought. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had met the Prime Minister twice and demanded Rs 5,500 crore for drought relief measures. But, only Rs 1,500 crore has been sanctioned. The visits to drought-hit areas by the BJP leaders is an eyewash. They are not helping to get extra funds from the Central government,” he criticised. Parameshwara further said that the Congress has not conducted the Sadhana Samavesha.

“The Central government itself has awarded the state government for achievement in women and child welfare, transport and other departments. In spite of this, charge sheets are being released against the Congress led state government, which is unfortunate,” he said.

“The state government has not pushed the state into fiscal mess. The state can still procure Rs 40-50,000 crore loans. But, no loan has been availed. Almost all the assurances by the state government have been fulfilled during the four years of its administration. The rest of the 35-40 promises too, will be fulfilled before elections,” Parameshwara assured.
