Disclosing this to reporters on Wednesday, Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Nayak Belamagi said over 21,000 acre of grazing land spread across six districts of Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Hassan, Tumkur, Mandya and Davanagere are encroached.
The worst case is Hassan, where the entire 3,000 acre of grazing land is illegally occupied. He said that he will discuss the issue with the Chief Minister and top officials of the department. He said, of 1,185 sanctioned posts of veterinary doctors, only 113 posts are filled. “Not many are coming forward to become Government veterinary doctors. We have asked KPSC to fill the vacant posts at the earliest,” he said.
