Hassan: Thousands of people thronging Hasanamba temple to have the darshan on Thursday, forced the district administration to cancel VVIP and VIP passes and also special darshan tickets to control the crowd and to streamline darshan. Only general darshan was allowed.

Meanwhile, pourakarmikas, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene on the temple premises, staged a flash protest, condemning the assault on a worker by the Police and Revenue department personnel. Even though the district administration claimed to be taking all necessary measures, for conducting a smooth darshan at the temple, there were several complaints on the lack of facilities, from devotees from day one. Chandrashekar, a devotee from Bengaluru, staged a lone protest, in front of the temple on Thursday, against the DC for the chaos.

The people alleged that lakhs of VIP passes have been distributed. Most of them visiting the temple posse passes for darshan, and it was the main reason for the chaos. Meanwhile, the devotees standing in long queues also expressed their outrage and damaged the barricades.

Holenarsipur MLA H D Revanna, who visited the temple for darshan on Thursday, expressed his anger over the Deputy Commissioner, for printing and distributing lakhs of VIP passes. He purchased Rs 1,000 ticket for each of his family members and had darshan.

“Who gave the permission to the DC to print VIP passes? The DC warns a police officer that she would complain to the Chief Secretary and suspend him. I will also write a letter to the Chief Secretary, explaining about the chaos, at the temple this year. Let the CS order a probe against the DC,” Revanna challenged.

Protest

The City Municipal Council (CMC) members staged a protest in front of the CMC building, on Thursday. They alleged that the DC had not made provisions for them, for darshan.
