Justice K N Keshava Narayana stayed the investigations based on a complaint lodged by Shamanna Sharif against her husband Mohammad Siddiqui and her in-laws, who belong to the Nizam’s family from Hyderabad, for dowry harassment.

She had filed a complaint with the Ulsoor women’s police station in April 2008. According to her complaint, she married Siddiqui in 2005 and her parents had given dowry in addition to 560 gm of gold during her engagement.

After the marriage, Siddiqui left for London for a year on business. During her stay at her in-laws’ place, she said she was harassed for dowry.

She alleged that her husband too harassed her after returning to India in 2006. However, Siddiqui later approached the High Court seeking to quash the compliant, which on Tuesday stayed the investigations and adjourned the matter for further hearing.
