Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak about the ‘single window’ system responsible for corruption in Karnataka, which was “hiding behind the chair of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa”.

Senior BJP MLAs are taking their grouses on the single-window system to the streets, and are making allegations of corruption against family members of Yediyurappa. “Will Modi talk about the single window system of self-declared great leader in the state ruled by the BJP?” he
said.

Kumaraswamy attacked Modi over his charges of a single-window system in West Bengal under its Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, which Modi had alleged was to benefit Mamata’s nephew and MP Abhishek Banerjee. Commenting about the poll-bound West Bengal when the PM was nurturing a similar ‘single window’ system in the BJP-ruled Karnataka was self-deceit.

“Let Modi first end BJP government’s single-window system in Karnataka which is swallowing the tax money of people and funds reserved for development,” the JD(S) leader said.

Double farm income

Recalling Modi’s assurance of doubling farm income by 2022, he said that only farm expenses had doubled by 2021. “Increase in fuel prices has worsened the situation. How will the income double now?” he asked.

Kumaraswamy criticised Agriculture Minister B C Patil’s remark, asking farmers to adapt to price rise. “It is saddening that those who should help resolve farmer issues are being irresponsible,” he said.

Modi should answer whether the hardships faced by farmers now is a measure to double farmers income, Kumaraswamy added.
