Heavy rains coupled with lightning lashed Narasimharajapura taluk on Monday night. It had remained cloudy whole day, and started raining in the night. The taluk had received rain for two hours.
N R pura has received 146 mm rainfall. A huge tree was uprooted and fell near Kallugudde school in Menasoor Gram Panchayat. As a result, electricity supply was disrupted in the region. Even electric poles and wires had fallen on the ground.
A house had developed cracks as lightning struck the house at Housing Board colony in Narasimharajapura. The house belongs to Sunil. The incident occurred when all the family members were having meals.
Rains also damaged a compound wall built in the firewood depot of the forest department at Chikkagrahara.
Branches of trees fell on electric wires at J K Sawmill road. With the lack of storm water drains, water was flowing on the road itself. Water had even entered inside a few houses in the taluk. Owing to lack of storm water drains, wastes had entered a field at Kaimara.
Drains overflow
With the overflow of drains, all the wastes including mud and stones is seen stacked on the road in a few villages. The playground of Deepthi School was filled with water.
Over 20 electric poles have been uprooted in the taluk, incurring a loss of lakh of rupees, said Mescom engineer Chandrashekar to Deccan Herald.
