Heavy rains brought down a portion of the parapet wall of Shankarateertha pond, an electric pole and four houses at Ilsur village in Sirsi taluk on Tuesday.
The wall at the pond where river Aghanashini originates has developed cracks at many places. Entry to Shankarateertha has bee banned for safety reasons.
A hill across a stretch between Bedkani and Maddanakeri villages in Siddapur taluk caved in. The incident resulted in heavy cracks on the road indicating the possibility of landslide.
A parapet wall of the low level canal of Tungabhadra reservoir at Pampa Vidyapeetha at Ramasagar in Kampli taluk in Ballari district collapsed due to heavy discharge of water. The incident has left over 50 acres of paddy fields submerged.
Vehicular movement between Kampli and Hosapete was restricted for sometimes. The discharge was decreased to 1,600 cusecs from 2,000 cusecs.
Torrential rains shot up water level in river Varada at Basawasi in Sirsi taluk. Over 300 acres of farmland has been submerged.
