Tourism Minister C P Yogeeshwar said that heliports will be developed at six places in Karnataka, which in turn will provide connectivity to major tourist destinations in Karnataka.
Speaking during an interaction with stakeholders here on Saturday, he said as a part of the heli tourism project, the heliport will come up at Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hampi, Kalburgi, Mangalur, and Hubballi.
The department is mooting a heli tourism model with a hub of a heliport and helipads at these places.
The Minister said that the centre has approved the state’s request for starting seaplane services to connect the state’s 320-km long coastal belt.
“Chief Secretary to the Karnataka government has been requested to conduct a survey to identify the spots and feasibility study for the same under Udaan scheme.”
Madhusudhan from Aerohelicon said under the heliport project a base of heliport will be created, wherein chartered flight can land and take off to various destinations including for the promotion of spiritual tourism, medical tourism and others.
