Mangaluru: Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja criticised Congress MLC B K Hariprasad for his recent comparison of Udupi Pejawar Mutt Seer, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji, to a 'petty politician'.
Poonja stated, “If B K Hariprasad truly had Hindu DNA, he would not have made such statements about Swamiji. His DNA should be tested to understand why he speaks this way.”
Condemning the Congress leader's statement, Poonja remarked, “Hariprasad has no respect for saffron and kavi (saffron robes of monks). A DNA test would reveal whether his DNA contains saffron, green, or white.”
Poonja further noted that “B K Hariprasad once claimed that Hindus and Muslims have the same DNA. We do not agree with his statement. Hindus have the DNA of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.”
He added, “In a democratic system, political figures and parties respect spiritual leaders. Hariprasad has damaged that trust. Does he have the courage to make such statements about Muslim or Christian religious leaders? The Hindu community will respond appropriately to his remarks about Swamiji.”
Poonja concluded by saying, “Everyone in Malleshwaram knows who the real petty politician is. Hariprasad, who has leveraged his connections with the Gandhi family for political gain, is the true petty politician. He lacks the merit to win through public mandate.”
