An inscription possibly belonging to that of the Jain religion was found during construction work at the Government Engineering College, near Kallangere Gate, on the outskirts of Arsikere town in Hassan district.
The historical inscription was discovered when workers were using earthmovers to dig up the site.
The officials from the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums visited the site and inspected it on Monday.
According to the officials, the inscription might belong to the Jain religion. Another team of experts will visit the place and provide correct information, they said.
