Bengaluru: Denying allegations of sexual assault against a minor girl, BJP veteran B S Yediyurappa on Friday said he would face the case as per law.
The Sadashivanagar police have filed an FIR under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the four-time chief minister.
“The mother and her daughter used to come here several times. We hadn’t let them near us. About one-and-a-half months back, I saw her crying and took them inside to ask what the problem was,” Yediyurappa said.
Yediyurappa said after hearing her out, he called up Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda and asked him to look into it. “But right then, she started telling all sorts of things about me. I thought that maybe she’s not alright and there was no use in speaking further,” Yediyurappa said.
“Now, there’s an FIR. I’ll do whatever is necessary to face this as per law,” the BJP leader said.
“But look what happened when I tried to help her. I even gave her some money. Still, this development has taken place. I hadn’t expected this,” he said.Yediyurappa refused to see politics behind this. “It’s just some women who has filed a complaint. Why should I unnecessarily call it a political conspiracy?”
