Mysuru: The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari, which was taken to Chamundi hill on October 9 for Dasara inauguration (on October 15), was brought back to Mysuru Palace premises in a mini procession in a motorised silver chariot on Tuesday morning.
This idol of the goddess will be placed in 750 kg golden howdah carried by Elephant Abhimanyu, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will offer floral obeisance during the Dasara Jamboo Savari procession today during auspicious Meena lagna between 4.40 pm and 5 pm.
After the pooja by the chief priest of Sri Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill the procession began around 8.40 am. The nodal officer for this mini procession, Mysore City Corporation ADC Roopa received the idol of the Goddess from the temple.
MP Pratap Simha, Mysuru Mayor Shivakumar launched the procession. A team of Nadaswara, Veda Ghosha and four other folk cultural troupes joined the procession vehicle in a lorry.
Mounted cops joined the procession near the entrance arch of the hill near Tavarekatte. Four teams of folk art cultural troupes including two teams of Veerabhadra Kunitha, one team of Chande Vaadana, one team of Pooja Kunitha got down from the vehicle there and put up a performance.
The procession will go via Kurbaralli Circle, Lalitha Mahal road, enter Ittigegoodu on MG road. At Ittigegoodu as per the tradition, pooja will be offered near Sri Sathyanarayanaswamy temple.
The idol of Goddess will be received with a formal pooja at Jayamarthanda gate of Mysuru Palace. People lined up on either side of the road will have a glimpse of the Goddess and offer obeisance.
