A team led by tahsildar Dr Roopashree conducted the raid and seized 24 blocks of granites worth more than Rs 1 crore and machine used for the purpose and arrested a person in this connection.
It is being reportedly said that mining activities were carried out in 2 acres of land from the past few months without the permission from the Mining and Geology department.
Earlier a report on the mining operations was carried out in Deccan Herald due to which mining was stopped. However, it is said that from the past few months mining operations had been resumed and granite blocks were being transported to Bangalore and other cities.
A complaint was registered in this respect. Sub-inspector K G Satish, deputy tahsildar Nanjappa, revenue inspector Chowdappa and others were part of the team. Bangalore based Ramachandra is arrested for involving in these activities.
