Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said that the government would establish an international science centre at Hosur village in Gauribidanur taluk, Chikkaballapur district, to promote science and scientific temperament among students.
Speaking at a meeting convened to discuss the matter, Kumaraswamy said that the centre, which will be set up on 200 acres, will be named after eminent science scholar and rationalist Dr H Narasimhaiah, who hailed from Hosur.
The proposed centre will be established with the cooperation of defence and space research organisations such as DRDO and ISRO, among others.
The centre will work towards imparting scientific knowledge among students and provide platforms for science and related activities.
The chief Minister has directed officials and experts to prepare a blueprint for the project.
The meeting was attended by renowned scientist K P J Reddy of Indian Institute of Science, Public Works Minister H D Revanna, Agriculture Minister and Gauribidanur MLA N H Shivashankar Reddy, former vice chancellor of University of Mysore K S Rangappa and senior officials.
