The government has released funds under special package for the development of interior villages in Belthangady taluk.
This would help in addressing the major problems faced by the people of the taluk, said District-in-Charge Minister C T Ravi.
He was speaking after distributing Bhagyalakshmi bonds to 14 children and handing over houses to the beneficiaries of various housing schemes. He said that Rs 3.90 crore has been sanctioned to upgrade the Primary Health Centre in Belthangady.
BelthangadyMLA Vasanth Bangera said because of combing operation of ANF, there is presence of Maoists in the taluk.
He said that Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) lacked the basic training which was quite evident when their own man was killed during a combing operation a few months ago. Meeting cancelled
A special meeting of the District-in-Charge Minister with the residents of naxal-infested areas, was cancelled, causing much disappointment to the Malekudiyas.
The meeting which was scheduled to be held at 4.30 pm, was cancelled abruptly.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dalita Hakkugala Horata Samiti President L Shekhar alleged that they were not informed about the meeting venue.
“Around 20-30 people from naxal-infested areas who had come to Belthangady to participate in the meeting were not aware of the meeting venue. On arriving to Belthangady, we were told that the meeting would be held in Gruvayankere.
There was confusion all over, and we had to return as the meeting was cancelled. We had come to discuss our problems with the minister, but were disappointed to hear that there was no meeting,” he said.
