Kurubas and those belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) will be deprived of opportunities, if the Union government implements the proposed internal reservation, said Minister for Textiles Varthur Prakash on Sunday.

Addressing a Kanaka Jayanti programme organised by Kurubas’ Welfare Association the Kolar district in-charge minister said: “ The Union government is keen on implementing the proposed internal reservation keeping in view the forthcoming seven-phase bypolls in Uttar Pradesh.

Internal reservation will deal a severe blow to the Kuruba community, who form one of the largest communities in the country.

Minority communities, who are less populous than us, are reaping benefits of reservation. In such a scenario, the proposed internal reservation is unjust.”

The Congress which is in support of internal reservation eyeing the Uttar Pradesh bypolls will have to bear the brunt in the future.

Thus, considering the welfare of the backward classes the Congress too should protest against it, Varthur added.

The construction of community halls in KGF, Mulbagal and Bangarpet should be hastened, said the minister.

Meritorious students were felicitated on the occasion.
