“Kannadigas, who have left the State, still hold close ties with their motherland. They wish the best of development for their homeland and we are ready to create special opportunities for all NRIs wishing to contribute to the development of the State,” Yeddyurappa told the on-going Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) conference in New Jersey via video-conference from Bangalore.

Yeddyurappa pointed out that the Global Investors Meet held in June this year in Bangalore had achieved unparalleled success in employment generation. “You are always welcome to start your venture in the State. Just name the district in which you are interested and we will provide the necessary support,” the Chief Minister told the delegates.

He said the NRI Cell will provide information on socio-economic activities of Karnataka and its development. It will also coordinate investment in the State across all potential sectors.
Yeddyurappa reiterated that the State Government was seriously contemplating providing free education to girl children under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme till they attain 18 years of age, apart from providing them free health facilities.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated a cultural and literary evening at the convention and released several books brought out by Indya Comics.
