District JD(S) president R M Manjunath Gowda said on Saturday that the party is likely to field either former MLA Madhu Bangarappa or Geetha Shivarajkumar as its nominee from Shivamogga for the next year's Lok Sabha polls if there is no pre-poll alliance with the Congress.
He was replying to a query on the party's candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections during a press meet here. He said the party leaders had not yet finalised candidates for the parliamentary polls.
But they are likely to finalise one of the two leaders as the candidate. If the party enters into an alliance with the Congress, one has to wait and see the candidate of which party will be fielded from Shivamogga.
Referring to the party's poor performance in the city corporation polls that concluded recently, he said the party might have won a few seats. But its vote share has increased, which is a good sign. He would leave no stone unturned to strengthen the party, Gowda said.
