Holenarsipur (Hassan): Few students from Jammu and Kashmir enrolled under PMSSS (PM's special scholarship scheme) in Government nursing school of Holenarsipur in Hassan district have reportedly written a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleging that they were forced to shave their beards before being allowed into clinical lab of the college.
They have also reportedly written to the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister and the J&K Students Association in this regard, urging them to intervene in the issue. They have tweeted about the fracas on X.
Later in another letter of students of the college tweeted that the issue has been resolved.
The principal of the college, Chandrashekar, has clarified that as many as 330 students are studying in the college, including 14 from Jammu and Kashmir. The rule regarding dress code is the same for all the students.
Since they are studying nursing and are enrolled in the program, all the students are instructed to trim their beards, wear clean clothes and shoes before they enter clinical labs.
Principal of the college Chandrashekar has clarified that as many as 330 students are studying in the college including 13 from Jammu and Kashmir. On November 8 Clinical lab instructor Vijaykumar had warned some students including students from J and K and even those from Karnataka to trim beards before they enter the clinical lab. The issue has now been settled, he said.
