Dr Seetalakshmi Karkikodi, senior sub-editor in the Mangaluru edition of Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily, has earned her second PhD. Mumbai University has awarded the degree.
According to a press release, her research topic was 'Pro-women activism in Kannada Journalism'. The study was done under the guidance of Mumbai University Kannada department Chairman Dr G N Upadhya.
Seetalakshmi's earlier PhD thesis was on 'Representation of women in the stories of Masti Venkatesha Iyyangar', carried out under the guidance of researcher Dr Mohan Kuntar. Kannada University, Hampi had awarded the PhD.
She has also secured an MPhil degree on 'The achievements of theatreperson Sadananda Suvarna', a research study conducted under the guidance of Dr G N Upadhya.
