'Kadur to get permanent drinking water facility'

Kadur town will soon get permanent drinking water facility as Kadur is one among the towns selected by Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) for its ambitious drinking water supply project, said Town Municipal Council Chief Officer S Omkaramurthy.

Addressing reporters on Saturday after taking part in a KUWSDB meeting in Bangalore, he said the Board has selected only a few towns in the State, and in Chikmagalur district, only Kadur and Birur have got the opportunity.

The Board will take up the total responsibility of the project and provide permanent drinking water facility to the town. The Board will efficiently function in the days to come to overcome problems like unsatisfactory water supply, management and bill recovery, he informed.

There is a necessity of assessing the water quality and enhancing the same, conducting programmes to check water wastage, 24-hour water supply, mandatory installation of water meters, value-added bill distribution and revenue collection, Omkaramurthy said.
