The threat was sent on March 3, two days after the March 1 Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru that injured ten persons.

"There's a ransom demand. It came two days back. It has been sent to the Bengaluru police commissioner," Shivakumar said on Tuesday.

Shivakumar said the email was sent by one Shahid Khan.

According to Shivakumar, the bomb threat was: "Alert One: If you don't provide us $2.5 million, we'll cause large explosions on buses, trains, taxis, temples, hotels and public areas througout Karnataka. Alert Two: We want to show you one more trailer. We're going to explode the next one on the Ambari Utsav bus. Then we'll raise our demands on social media and we'll upload screenshots of mails sent to you."

Shivakumar said he does not know if this is bogus or real. "The police are on the job," he said.
